What is
FanFlash?
FanFlash is a new communications
system that was designed to help the fans of RIIL sports stay in
touch! Now, you can receive the same types of emails and text
messages that RIIL officials, coaches, and athletic directors receive when
games are canceled or rescheduled, and when scores are reported.
What this means is that you never again* have to guess as to whether a game
will be played, or what the most up-to-date standings are!
Rainy
weather? Field not playable?
How many times have you rushed to
the field even though it is raining, not knowing if the game was on or
not? Have you ever changed your schedule at work to get to a big
game only to find out it was canceled? Or maybe your schedule is
out-of-date and you'd love to have a fresh copy? Now you can have
the latest information delivered right to your desktop computer, to your
PDA, or to your cell phone!
How it
works...
The RIIL has a Internet based
scheduling and notification system in place that notifies game officials,
athletic directors, coaches, sports directors, and other league officials,
whenever an athletic event is postponed, canceled, and rescheduled.
When an athletic event has to be changed for any reason, all RIIL member
schools use the scheduling system to initiate the change and start the
notification process. Now, the public can get this information at
the same time that everyone else gets it, via email and text
message! How cool is that?
And the best news of
all? For the immediate future, the
service is free. So give it a try. You've got
nothing to lose!
What you
need to know...
Before you register for FanFlash,
you need to understand the following:

Please read the RIIL.org
Privacy Policy so that you understand how we use the data we
collect on the website.

Cellular telephones and
PDA devices must be enabled for text messaging to receive text
messages using this system. FanFlash cannot deliver text
messages to your cell phone if you do not have this service
enabled. Please contact your cell phone provider for information
on text messaging. (This does not apply to email.)

FanFlash text messaging
should work for the following services: Cingular, Verizon,
T-Mobile, AT&T, Nextel, and Sprint. Please email
us if you have a service that is not listed.

Delivery of emails and
text messages in a timely manner is dependent upon many factors,
including Internet traffic and cellular phone congestion and signal
availability. What we can tell you is that we will deliver the
message to the Internet at the earliest possible time. If all
goes well, you will receive it soon thereafter. But delivery can
never be fully guaranteed.

We are offering this
service at no cost for the 2004 fall athletic season so that we can
prove that it works and to get any bugs worked out.
