Elizabeth followed up her victory at the Class B Cross Country Championships by also winning the individual state title at the RIIL Cross Country State Championships. Her winning performances helped Portsmouth successfully defend both its Class B and State titles. Elizabeth was then the top Rhode Island female finisher at the New England Championships, placing ninth. A high honors student, she maintains a 3.82 GPA. She volunteers her time as a tutor and also volunteers with her cross country team to hand out water to runners in local road races. The captain of the girls cross country team, Elizabeth is a great teammate and respected by her peers and coaches. She hopes to continue her running career in college.
Academically, Christopher ranks 11th in his class with a 92.69 GPA. Athletically, he is on Central's Varsity Football team and competes at the Division I level, playing on both sides of the ball for the Knights. At running back, he has 57 rushing attempts for 558 yards, 6 rushing touchdowns, and 4 receiving touchdowns. As a defensive back, he has three interceptions, scoring one touchdown and recording 31 solo tackles. Chris has passed on his knowledge of the game by volunteering his time with the U12 49er’s football team. Earlier this year, he received the Rhode Island Civic Leadership Award, presented by Secretary of State Nellie M. Gorbea to students around the state who have made outstanding contributions to their schools and communities over the past year. He is respectful, helps other students, and displays good sportsmanship both in the classroom and on the field. Chris is currently doing an internship with DiPrete Engineering and hopes to major in engineering in college.
