Purpose/Objective: The Head Middle School Tennis Coach will work under the direction of the Director of Athletics creating a competitive program that models Quaker principles through sportsmanship.
Major Responsibilities:
- Team management (70%):
- Actively support the academic and personal growth and success of student-athletes.
- Oversee all practices and games.
- Develop regular communication practices with parents, athletic department and students.
- Manage team social media accounts.
- Cultivate an inclusive team culture committed to a high level of competition, sportsmanship, relationship building and integrity.
- Create a program philosophy consistent with the Varsity and JV programs at MB to ensure consistency of skill development and approach at all levels.
- Administrative and logistical duties (30%):
- Work with the athletic department to coordinate team practices.
- Coordinate a robust daily practice plan (in person and virtually) that develops skill sets and values that align with Moses Brown’s mission and aid in building a competitive program.
- Work with Sports Medicine and Strength and Conditioning to develop and implement programs that will aid in the physical development and injury prevention of student athletes.
- Participate in the Admissions process, including: personal outreach to prospective students who have expressed interest in Moses Brown, campus visits, open house, etc.
- Collaborate with the athletic department on equipment needs, use and purchases
- Scope: Moses Brown is a 236-year old co-educational independent day school enrolling 770 students nursery through twelfth grade. Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
Experience: Prior experience playing and/or coaching tennis.
Skills, Knowledge & Expectation:
- A coaching philosophy centered on mutual respect, positive communication, and a commitment to equity, inclusiveness, relationship-building and care for young people.
- Knowledge of current techniques, rules and regulations.
- Experience developing game and practice strategy.
- Ability to effectively communicate with students and parents.
- Ability to travel regionally and work evenings and weekends as needed.
