Stipend Job Description
Title: Assistant Junior Varsity Lacrosse Coach (Girls)
Department: Athletics
Reports to: Head JV Coach
Job Level/Salary Grade: Stipend
Purpose/Objective: The Assistant JV Coach will work under the direction of the Head JV Coach to help cultivate a competitive, inclusive, positive experience for MB student-athletes.
Major Responsibilities:
• Team management (60%):
o Work with the Head JV Coach to coordinate a robust daily practice plan (in person and virtually) that includes developing lacrosse skill sets.
o Promote a team culture committed to good sportsmanship, relationship building and integrity.
o Collaborate with varsity and middle school coaches to ensure consistency of skill development at all levels.
• Administrative and logistical duties (40%):
o Work with the Head JV Coach to coordinate/ schedule team practices and supervision during practice, games and team travel.
o Work with Sports Medicine and Strength and Conditioning to develop and implement programs that will aid in the physical development and injury prevention of student athletes.
o Participate in the Admissions process, including: personal outreach to prospective students who have expressed interest in Moses Brown, campus visits, open house, etc. (outreach to students must be done in strict compliance with RIIL rules)
o Assist the Head JV Coach and athletic department with issuing and collecting equipment and uniforms.
o Assist the Head JV Coach with managing the team’s social media presence.
Scope: Moses Brown is a 237-year old co-educational independent day school enrolling 770 students nursery through twelfth grade. Requirements:
Education: High School Diploma
Bachelor’s degree (Preferred)
Experience: Prior experience coaching lacrosse.
Skills, Knowledge & Expectation:
• A coaching philosophy centered on mutual respect, positive communication, and a commitment to equity, inclusiveness, relationship-building and care for young people.
• Knowledge of current lacrosse techniques, rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of RIIL rules and regulations or the ability to become proficient on RIIL rules and regulations.
• Ability to effectively communicate with students and parents.
• Ability to travel regionally and work evenings and weekends as needed.
